10 Reasons why skirts are better…

From Erin at “A Dress a Day”
Facetious? Yes. (please excuse #10
)
1. Drawing your pant legs back from someone in disgust as you pass them is insufficiently scornful.
2. Studies have shown that wearing skirts is 90% effective in preventing VPL (visible panty line).
3. You no longer have to worry about your tush being exposed to the unfortunate individual in the desk behind you. Ditto for the “muffin top” (when your pants hug your hips too tightly and create an unnatural bulge above your pants)
4. Ruffles on a skirt can be over-the-top glamorous. Ruffles on pants are only acceptable if your name is Mary, and a little lamb follows you everywhere you go.
5. It is impossible to smuggle someone in — or out — of prison, a masked ball, a hotel room, etc. by hiding them under your pants. (Plus, there is no such thing as “hooppants.”)
6. When you strap a gun to your thigh in pants, you lose the element of surprise.
7. You don’t have to have skirts hemmed differently for flats or heels.
8. Twirling in a pair of pants results in 87% less happiness.
9. The word “skirt” has both a singular and a plural form, usable by all (”I am wearing a skirt today.” “Instantly Mrs. Bagnet put some pins into her mouth, and began pinning up her skirts all round, a little higher than the level of her grey cloak.”) The word “pants” has a singular that can only be used by fashion-industry people (”Designers are showing a high-waisted, wide-legged pant for fall”).
10. Skirt blowing up, revealing underthings? Flirtatious. Pants falling down, revealing underthings? Humiliating.

I know this has nothing to do with skirts, but I love the shoes the girl’s wearing in the header!! And as an all-the-time skirts wearer, I have to say that this list is wonderful!

Haha! I loved this post! It made me smile
LOL.THIS WAS A CUTIE, BRIGHTENED MY DAY. lOL.
… love number six. Playing Daniel Boone with my siblings, I might actually have to worry about that.
Oh, this is wonderful! More to add to my list of why wearing a skirt is absolutely wonderful!! Thanks for sharing!!
Alex
Thanks. I needed that
Haha, that was wonderful!!! thanks for that =)
*dies laughing*
Christa,
i have a fashion question for you… :), I wear skirts all the time, but my dad was telling me the other day that I need to wear shoes that keep my feet dry and warm… currently I have some dansko Mary janes that are great, but my feet get cold (today it was a grand 34 degrees, it usually is much colder in the winter… about 10 to -10.) When I wore pants, I used to have some waterproof hiking boots that I wore everywhere, but who feels glamorous in those???? Do you have any suggestions? I would love to have a pair of boots, but I was reading about how you shouldn’t wear them with long skirts… but that kind of defeats the purpose of wearing boots if you’re wearing short skirts.. then your feet are warm, but your legs are cold! I was noticing today at school that the newest fashion is boots with pants tucked in… who’s to say what is fashionable!? Sorry for rambling… any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Alex
p.s. I have lots of nice dress shoes, and have most of the shoes from the recent post on shoes, but I need to be warm/dry as I run across campus many times a day… thanks! You are great!
LOVED reading this! My husband really likes it when I wear skirts mainly because like you stated in #2 no panty line ever shows! Cute post!
Thanks for this, Christa! It made a smaile amidst a very boring day of studying! I particularly love #8. I went dancing with a friend recently and can certainly vouch that twirling in a skirt was at least 84% more fun, if not more - you would lose half the ‘whoosh’ factor in pants.
yes I love this post! As a now wearer of skirts only this made my day! Today I went out to Patrick henry college for the high school choir class I take there. I just love it there most of the girls wear skirts all the time or at least at the school. Its refreshing. Then my mother and I went to Costco and walmart afterwards to get some items we needed for our family and I got so many stares. Also so many young and older men were so polite and nice to me at the stores. You just get different reactions when you wear skirts.
Number 10 isn’t that funny…it happened today.
haha :o) seriously, it did.
Twirling IS more fun in a skirt!
Oh my lands, Beth that is hilarious! I mean, I feel bad and all…but still- oh ::laughing::
That’s unfortunate.
OH MY! those are hysterical! very true though. I love them! Thanks for sharing them. lol
Beth, I am so sorry! Fortunately that has never happened to me, but I have had many dreams that it happened in. I am hoping they don’t come true!
Prayers and Blessings,
Miss Amanda
Hi Christa,
Enjoying your blog and clothing website. So classy and so refreshing. Got a laugh out of this! May I ask a question….for advice? =)
I am wondering how long pants should…I mean, how long is too long? Is it ok for them to reach the bottom of the heel–almost touching the ground….or should they be hemmed if that long? What kind of shoes should be worn to help with long pants? How much of the shoe should be showing….is it all right for just the toe of th shoe to show?
I hope this doesn’t sound too silly or too confusing…Thanks for your time. =)
I am really trying to learn a few fashion tips, so I am thankful for the hints on this blog.
Hi Chris,
Pant hem? Well, there is two ways of hemming your pants 1)Hem for heels 2) Hem for flats. You should not wear pants that are hemmed for flats with heels. It looks like high-waters.
Either of these styles should be hemmed so that the bottom is just brushing where you toes split from your foot in the front and about 1/2″ off the ground in the back. If it touches the floor it will end up frayed and damaged. Denim is the one exception. Your jeans should come as close to the floor without touching it as possible.
The Front of your shoes should always be visible. If your shoes are fully covered you look like you have no feet.
Hilarious!
Wearing thongs and boyshorts you don’t have pantylines. And properly fit clothes, you won’t see PL.
The art of pant seams…lol. what will women think of next? Tngas and cheekys offer great coverage and no panty lines, unless they have lace trim of course. Thats the sad part of lace undies, they show too easily.
