Fashion: Modesty Can Be Fashionable

I am often quite disgusted when I see women degrade themselves by wearing clothes that are too small. Specific sizes were designed for specific body types, so is it too much to ask that you stick to what fits best? Trust me, it would look much better. I realize that some think it’s “cute” or “sexy” to wear something super revealing, but really, I do not care to see your excessive amounts of skin hanging over the side of your super tight miniskirt. I don’t want to see your Victoria’s secret panties when you bend over, so please, keep your secret to yourselves.
What ever happened to self-respect? I believe that one can be cute and trendy, while still being modest. It may work for some, but any serious woman who believes that she will find a man while dressing like a 13 year old girl in middle school may be, perhaps, a bit delusional.
As time passes, it seems that being slightly “trashy” has overridden what women should be known for, and that is class. Every woman is beautiful in her own unique way, but that might not matter to a stranger who sees you walking down the street. You could be the sweetest, most sincere person with the biggest heart around; if you are wearing attire that shows a little bit more thigh than it should, that passerby may not gain a very good perspective of you. Ladies, let’s please be classy and respectful of our bodies. Help someone gain a great outlook of who you are by dressing appropriately. I still believe modest is hottest.

This is spot-on! It doesn’t make sense to dress immodestly and expect a man to love you for your personality.
I enjoyed the writing style of this…there is no misunderstanding her because she tells it as it is. A lot of young women NEED to read this.
Yes! Absoultely!
What more can I say?
Awesome!
My fave part was:
“It may work for some, but any serious woman who believes that she will find a man while dressing like a 13 year old girl in middle school may be, perhaps, a bit delusional.”
Wonderful!
I just want to say, I found this blog header quite humorous.
yeah… especially since it looks like a girl’s head is floating in the back!
Loved this article! Modesty is BEAUTY. My male friends and family always seem to find women who dress with respect for themselves more beautiful than the girls who let it all hang out…in fact, I’ve heard them say they have NO respect for girls who wear skimpy, tight clothing. Keep these great posts coming!
I disagree with the slogan “modest is hottest” because I think modesty is about glorifying God, not about trying to make yourself look “hot”.
But yay for someone having the guts to speak in print about modesty!
I am always appalled by what I see walking in the mall. The women with the midriff bearing shirts with tons of skin falling all over it, etc. They can’t think that they’re attractive that way, can they?
What possess someone to wear something that not only is immodest, but is unattractive?
I also second Anna’s thoughts where “modest is hottest” isn’t exactly the thoughts I have. I prefer “pretty” to “hot” anyday.
Tis true- ‘hot’ or “hawt” doesn’t exactly put the right connotations in my mind- I don’t like getting checked out- modest or no!
But, you’re right- It is definitely unattractive to sport a bare muffin top. Essentially I believe it comes down to attention. Girls seeking affirmation even if it’s all the wrong kind. Yikes.
So true! I wrote a post called “What Happened to Class?” and I so agree with this. As well as the last post on femininity — I love Jonathan Edwards example.
Great job!

I would love to see your article “What Happened to Class”. In fact, why don’t you add it to our modesty carnival?
