Ace McKay, morning show co-host at STAR 88.3,
As the daddy of two beautiful daughters, I’m constantly aware of cultural assaults on their self image. So I love it when something as powerful as the Secret Keeper Girl Tour Conference comes along to impact them positively.
We can blame the media, movies and TV shows that give little girls false perceptions of how they should look, act and talk. But better than blaming, parents can use a resource like this to open a conversation with daughters about the biblical view of how they should see themselves…
I know the relationship I have, not just with my daughters but also with their mom, shows them how love and relationships work. As we attempt to raise them God’s way, I am constantly enforcing a positive light on who they are as children of God while educating them at the right times about boys and what can happen if they are not on guard. Each day, I tell the girls, “I love you, I will always love you. Nothing will ever change that, and you will always be beautiful.”
What makes the Secret Keeper Girl Tour special is that it helps to deepen the relationship between mothers and daughters. The event is filled with fun, music and modesty that girls of all ages can walk away with, their heads held high and carrying their own plans for how to remain pure till marriage with God and Mom’s help.
Dannah Gresh has been speaking to the fashion industry for the past several years about the marketing of sensual clothing to tweens. She plans to present a petition to the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Apparel and Footwear Manufacturer’s Association for them to change their guidelines. She’s created “The Bod Squad” and hopes to have 50,000 signatures by the year’s end to show the support for this creed.
