Spring Shimmer Eyes

Published by Christa Taylor under Makeup

Frosty pale shadow or liner is a fresh, ehteral way to look seriously feminine without resorting to an hour-long makeup session. Paired with some of Springs airy fabrics, it’s spot on chic.

-Smudge pale apple blossom pinks or champagnes all around the eye. With the color so soft it’s hard to over do it. (mixing white/bone with a silver is another variation)

-Make sure you conceal under your eye beforehand so you avoid the “tired” look.

Straight haired girls: This ethereal makeup style looks fantastic with straight hair. Wear it well!

Teased curls

Published by Christa Taylor under Hair

 teasedcurls.jpg

A few celebrities launched this trend, and it’s surprisingly easy, particularly if you have wavy or curly hair. Just don’t over do it- walking around looking like you stuck your hand in an electric socket is not the goal ;)

How to do it:

1. Work a volumizing cream into your damp hair to add extra oomph before blow drying.

2. Wrap smal sections of hair around a medium barrel curling iron. Pin up the curls until they are cooled, then fluff them with your fingers.

3. Give waves body and bounce by teasing them with a large brush. To finish, mist locks with hairspray and pat down a bit.

10 Things Guys Love about Girls part1

Greetings, Ladies

Christa asked me to be a guest blogger on her Empowered Traditionalist site and so for the first time here is an article which, whether you see yourself as a girl, woman or lady, I hope will encourage, inspire and dignify you.

Ten Things Guys Love About Girls

Before I begin there are a few things that I should mention. First of all, a little-known truth:  there are so many things about you which enchant us guys (those of us who are in touch with the higher brain functions ^_^) that this article will never be complete. I would be unable to speak on behalf of all men.  So, perhaps I should just add to it from time to time whenever I think or hear of something that we men love about you. Continue Reading »

Give your Face Winter Warmth

Published by Christa Taylor under Makeup

Looking a bit pasty? Me too.

Here’s a few tips on giving your skin a rev-up in Februrary:

Give your face winter warmth

1. Prep. Start with clean, moisturized skin. Using a synthetic foundation brush, sweep foundation on the forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin—just where you need to even out your complexion. Blend it over the skin and finish with downward strokes (to flatten the tiny hairs on your cheeks).

2. Conceal. Pat a creamy, yellow-toned concealer under the eyes, being sure to get the inner corners near your nose. Disguise blemishes with a thicker, cakey concealer that matches your skin exactly. And eradicate an oily T-zone with a touch of loose, translucent powder on a large, fluffy brush—just dust it over the center of the forehead, down the nose, and on the chin.

3. Bronze. Swirl a medium-size, fluffy brush in a matte powder bronzer that’s slightly deeper than your skin tone. Tap most of the bronzer off the brush, then lightly skim it across the forehead and cheeks, then down the bridge of the nose.
4. Add blush. Give skin a believably sun-kissed look by applying a rose-tone powder blush to the apples of the cheeks and blending up the cheekbones. Be sure the blush is rosy, or at the very least pink; peach-tone blushes look orange over bronzer.
5. Highlight. With your index finger, sparingly apply an iridescent champagne shade of liquid or cream highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones and the inner corner of each eye.

Ace McKay, morning show co-host at STAR 88.3,

As the daddy of two beautiful daughters, I’m constantly aware of cultural assaults on their self image. So I love it when something as powerful as the Secret Keeper Girl Tour Conference comes along to impact them positively.

We can blame the media, movies and TV shows that give little girls false perceptions of how they should look, act and talk. But better than blaming, parents can use a resource like this to open a conversation with daughters about the biblical view of how they should see themselves…

I know the relationship I have, not just with my daughters but also with their mom, shows them how love and relationships work. As we attempt to raise them God’s way, I am constantly enforcing a positive light on who they are as children of God while educating them at the right times about boys and what can happen if they are not on guard. Each day, I tell the girls, “I love you, I will always love you. Nothing will ever change that, and you will always be beautiful.”

What makes the Secret Keeper Girl Tour special is that it helps to deepen the relationship between mothers and daughters. The event is filled with fun, music and modesty that girls of all ages can walk away with, their heads held high and carrying their own plans for how to remain pure till marriage with God and Mom’s help.

Dannah Gresh has been speaking to the fashion industry for the past several years about the marketing of sensual clothing to tweens. She plans to present a petition to the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Apparel and Footwear Manufacturer’s Association for them to change their guidelines. She’s created “The Bod Squad” and hopes to have 50,000 signatures by the year’s end to show the support for this creed.
