Spring Trends

by Eliza Magazine Editor-in-Chief Summer Bellessa
Spring is the season for budding flowers, Easter Egg Hunts, and a fresh start. The fashion tends to always get a bit brighter and lighter. Here are four of my favorite runway trends: florals, geometric patterns, sheer fabrics and nude hues. Be inspired by the high-fashion looks and interpret them in your own unique way.
Last year’s florals (1), (2) are still fresh,
but to keep it hip layer different florals in the same color family. This look is easily wearable, just keep an eye out for feminine flowey shirts to pair under a dress or with a structured skirt. Betsy Johnson featured baby-doll dresses with electric florals. If you are a girly-girl this
is the time you were waiting for, take advantage before this sweet style begins to fade.
Bright greens, yellows, pinks and blues were seen in geometric patterns, Marni’s eclectic mix of stripes and circles was especiall
sharp. Orly Kiley is known for its graphic prints and they didn’t let us down this season. Same as the floral trend, mixing and matching patterns is half the fun. Being able to walk around like a modern work of art is the other half.
Sheer fabrics are the spring material of choice, luckily layering with other textured pieces keeps your look hip and modest. Throw on a sheer dress over an opaque dress for a party or layer a sheer blouse under a sleeveless one with some jeans for a more casual look.
Nearly nude! Nude, pale pink, cream, and light tan are the simple alternative for the girls that winced at the feminine flower trend.
The minimalist in you will be glad to hear you don’t have to overstimulate your senses to be in style. Find a maxi dress in that barely there pink or a boyish cardigan in oatmeal. The hottest accessories are big, chunky bangles or a few subtle gold chains. Both will pull this look together and bring personality to your outfit.
If you own these looks and get creative, spring will be light, pretty and flouncy, just as it should.

I’m not sure just what it is about it, but I love the look of the second picture. Perhaps because it kinda looks 1950’s-ish.
