  1. so, yea, the tshirt wouldn’t make it past my dad- (too tight, particularly on bustier women ::gulp::)

but the combination is really cute.

I’m with your dad. As a guy, just driving down a street down town seeing girls with shirts like that, it’s amazing I haven’t had any car accidents yet. The shorts themselves are a touch boring, but I really like the vest.

  3. Sam says:

Cute! I love bermudas! The t-shirt wouldn’t make it past my dad either worn by itself, but worn under the vest, it’s a stylish and modest combination!

    Hi Christa,

I just found your blog recently and have been enjoying your posts! Great stuff!

I don’t like these shorts–they look too masculine, but I do like the two other suggestions Nancy gives on her blog. Very cute!

It wouldn’t be too tight if you bought it a size bigger so that when you wash it, it wouldn’t shrink as much. Cute outfit…though I am not to fond of the sandals.

  6. Sarah says:

I think that the shirt would be fine as long as you had a cami on underneath and also wore the vest, It would be a cute outfit.

  7. Hannah L. says:

I agree with Jessica–those shorts aren’t pretty at all!

Cargos are hard to wear. You pretty much have to have no hips and no thighs or else the cargo pockets emphasize exactly what you don’t want emphasized. While I like cargos on my friend Danielle, it’s because she has the super skinny, no hips, no thighs figure… they look great on her. I, on the other hand, while not in the possesion of hips (Oh to have hips and wear those vintage dresses made for hourglass figures….), I’ve definately got the thighs going on, so cargos look particularly horrid on me.

I love the t-shirt/vest combo. I don’t know why, but it makes me think of Lois Lane chasing down a story. I may have to follow some links and get it myself.

I favor plain bermudas myself- no extra pockets like these. However, these ARE modest and that is what the poster was going for.

    Since you asked….

I really dislike bermuda shorts. Period. I have never seen a pair I liked. Modest? Maybe. Feminine? No way. Even when paired with feminine accessories. Maybe even especially when paired with feminine accessories. The earrings, sandals, blouses, and bags in the posts just don’t seem to “go”.

Wow, I think I’m in the minority here, but I LOVE the entire outfit. Love the shorts. I don’t think they’re masculine at all, and my husband would love them on me. Granted, I would wear the shirt a bit looser, but I’m thinking that the vest over the shirt makes it more flowy and hides some of the clingy-ness of the shirt underneath. Suffice it to say if I received this outfit for my birthday, I’d be thrilled to pieces! :)

    Hey girls,

Just FYI, I own that T-shirt (It’s from GAP, I recognized the picture, believe it or not) and it doesn’t shrink.

You might be able to get it bigger, but it’s super stretchy.

    Hope

So…a question: Is that shirt modest? Specifically in clinging to the entire bust and outlining it. I am grappling with this right now as many of my friends wear this type of shirt. Right now my conclusion (and my husband’s, which is perhaps more valuable :) is that a shirt is meant to flatter but also to HIDE something. That’s the point of clothes. What are your thoughts?

    • Personally, I think the tshirt in question is rather tight. Where does your eye travel? Right to the bust. Would this tshirt please the Lord? Make Him happy? If it’s borderline, why make a big deal out of it? Just change. This style, utilizing a cute summer vest can be just as stylish with a looser tshirt.
Not to say we are to wear tents, I like the general phrase: “Tight enough to show you are woman, loose enough to show you are a lady”

oh…and also another question. Many of my friends wear a very tight shirt with an open vest, so that it “looks” more modest at first but in reality nothing is hidden…thoughts?
