THE VERDICT IS IN… AND PRINT IS HOT!
The in Spring Trend… mix & match patterns! Or just mix for that matter, who says you have to match.
Anita Leclerc’s tricks to making it work:
1. Vary the scale. Mix a small neat print with a splashier one. Or an eye-popper with one that’s more neutral.
2. Stay within the same color family.
3. Mix up the fabrics, the weights — a rough-textured fabric with a more refined one. Somehow a nubby, slubby fabric pairs up more naturally with a flat weave than do two smooth-textured fabrics.
4. Toss in some polka dots, stripes or even leopard prints, which are easier to mix with other patterns because they’re simple and graphic. And they’re familiar to the eye.
5. Consider the accessories. Though it’s fun to tote a print bag with a print frock, you can tone down the brights with a great tan leather bag or pair of sandals. Straw works, too.

The runways have been presenting the Statement necklace since Spring ‘08, but it is still going strong through 2010 with designers including Chanel, Christian Dior, Marni, Valentino and many more.
Jewelry is big, not just in popularity but in scale with lots of color.
Do:
Mix long strands together
Keep other accessories to a minimum.
Wear it long or short
Wear it in multiples- it’s supposed to be a bit audacious.
mix and match metals, glass, or acrylic and even add in leather, feathers and wood.
Pair with a simple neckline and neutral colored clothes.
DIY
To make your own necklace, simply look for bold beads, pendants and chain. Make sure that the metals work together, and that the colors are in the same family either by hue or shade. For example, choose gold or silver, muted tones or brights. Group your selection together to see how the components harmonize and how much space each piece demands. To avoid unnecessary bulk, cluster your larger pieces to the front of the necklace and keep the section that will lie on the back of your neck very plain, maybe just simple smaller scale beads or medium chain.

Those timeless nautical stripes, originally popularized by Coco Chanel have made a strong appearance in 2010. From Sonia Rykiel, for H&M, to Marc Jacobs and DKNY they’re colorful and vibrant. Be bold.
Do:
Pair with gold or metallic accessories for a chic and expensive look.
Pair with Red- lipstick, shoes, bags, jacket
Pair with solids. Keep one print and the rest simple.
Don’t:
wear horizontal stripes if your worried about drawing attention to your midsection. Stripes will “widen” anything they travel across.

I like this look, but I don’t think I could pull it off. My hourglass curves don’t like skinnies too much.

It was a drop-jaw moment. The 47 year-old spinster from Scotland, the perfect description of your “Irish Washerwoman”, the unlikeliest of candidates, – she shocked the world.
40 million youtube hits later, Susan Boyle is the latest musical phenomenon. (Haven’t seen it? Click here)
But will this late-blooming nightengale survive? The Beauty sector joined hands with the mass media to “encourage” Boyle to go for a complete beauty makeover, plastic surgery and all.
Hannah Farver (Beauty From the Heart) and I hit the streets, curious to hear the public’s reaction to plastic surgery and the pressure to be beautiful.

According to Caroline Rider at the LA Times, (April 5, 2009) modesty is making a comeback, starting with tween star, Miley Cyrus (aka Hannah Montana)
Forget Britney-era bling ‘n’ bras or clingy American Apparel spandex — 16-year-old “Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus wasn’t even allowed to wear leggings while the cameras were rolling. Spaghetti straps were verboten, Continue Reading »

Ace McKay, morning show co-host at STAR 88.3,
As the daddy of two beautiful daughters, I’m constantly aware of cultural assaults on their self image. So I love it when something as powerful as the Secret Keeper Girl Tour Conference comes along to impact them positively.
We can blame the media, movies and TV shows that give little girls false perceptions of how they should look, act and talk. But better than blaming, parents can use a resource like this to open a conversation with daughters about the biblical view of how they should see themselves…
I know the relationship I have, not just with my daughters but also with their mom, shows them how love and relationships work. As we attempt to raise them God’s way, I am constantly enforcing a positive light on who they are as children of God while educating them at the right times about boys and what can happen if they are not on guard. Each day, I tell the girls, “I love you, I will always love you. Nothing will ever change that, and you will always be beautiful.”
What makes the Secret Keeper Girl Tour special is that it helps to deepen the relationship between mothers and daughters. The event is filled with fun, music and modesty that girls of all ages can walk away with, their heads held high and carrying their own plans for how to remain pure till marriage with God and Mom’s help.
Dannah Gresh has been speaking to the fashion industry for the past several years about the marketing of sensual clothing to tweens. She plans to present a petition to the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Apparel and Footwear Manufacturer’s Association for them to change their guidelines. She’s created “The Bod Squad” and hopes to have 50,000 signatures by the year’s end to show the support for this creed.
